The prostaglandin D2 receptor (PTGDR), also known as the DP receptor, is a G protein-coupled receptor activated by prostaglandin D2 (PGD2). There are two main subtypes: DP1/PTGDR1 and DP2/CRTH2/PTGDR2. DP1 primarily couples to Gs proteins, increasing cAMP, while DP2 influences Th2 cell recruitment. These receptors play crucial roles in inflammatory and allergic responses, as well as various physiological processes like sleep regulation and hair growth, making them potential therapeutic targets for conditions such as asthma and alopecia.
