Prostaglandin E receptor 4 pseudogene 2 (PTGER4P2) is a pseudogene annotated in the human genome. It is named due to its sequence similarity to the prostaglandin E receptor 4 (PTGER4), which is a functional GPCR involved in prostaglandin signaling; however, PTGER4P2 itself does not encode a functional protein product. There is no evidence that it acts as a receptor, enzyme, or participates in signaling or pathological pathways. As a pseudogene, it may represent a noncoding genomic element or a relic of gene duplication or retrotransposition events and is not used as a therapeutic target[2].
