Target intelligence / Profile preview
The prostaglandin F2α receptor (FP) is a G protein-coupled receptor that binds and mediates the biological actions of prostaglandin F2α (PGF2α). It plays a crucial role in female reproductive function, particularly in luteolysis and uterine contraction. It is also implicated in cardiovascular regulation and related diseases.
Agonist-induced activation of Gq proteins, leading to PLC activation, IP3 production, and increased intracellular calcium levels. Can also activate G12/G13 and Gi proteins.
