Prostaglandin reductase 2 (PTGR2)

Target
PTGR2
Molecular classification
Enzyme, Oxidoreductase
01

Overview

Prostaglandin reductase 2 (PTGR2) is an NAD(P)H-dependent enzyme that catalyzes the reduction of 15-keto-prostaglandins (including 15-keto-PGE2) to 13,14-dihydro-15-keto-prostaglandins, thus regulating the levels of active prostaglandins in cells[2][7]. It is expressed in various tissues and plays roles in endogenous prostaglandin catabolism and in modulating biological processes such as cell proliferation and PPARγ signaling[1][2][7]. Alterations in its expression or activity have been implicated in diseases such as cancer and inflammatory conditions, where prostaglandin signaling impacts cell fate and immune responses[1][2].
