Prostaglandin Synthesis Enzymes (PGSE)

Target
PGSE
Molecular classification
Enzyme, Cyclooxygenase, Synthase, Isomerase
01

Overview

Prostaglandin synthesis enzymes, primarily cyclooxygenases (COX), are a group of enzymes responsible for the biosynthesis of prostaglandins from arachidonic acid. These enzymes play a critical role in inflammation, pain, and various other physiological processes. Inhibition of COX enzymes is the mechanism of action for many nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).
