Prostaglandin synthesis pathway enzymes are a group of enzymes responsible for the biosynthesis of prostaglandins, which are lipid mediators involved in inflammation, pain, fever regulation, vascular tone, and reproductive processes. These enzymes catalyze the conversion of arachidonic acid (released from membrane phospholipids) into various prostaglandins and related compounds through a series of enzymatic steps.
NSAIDs inhibit cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes, reducing prostaglandin synthesis.
