Overview

Prostate-associated gene 2 protein (PAGE2) is a member of the cancer/testis antigen family, a group of proteins typically silent in normal adult tissues except for the testis and aberrantly expressed in various cancers. Its function is not well understood, but as a tumor-associated antigen, PAGE2 is being investigated as a potential biomarker and an immunotherapy target in oncology. There is no evidence supporting receptor, enzyme, transporter, or classical signaling protein activity, but it may play a role in cellular proliferation and oncogenesis. Its restricted normal tissue expression makes it attractive for experimental cancer therapies, though no drugs directly target PAGE2 to date. *Note: There is no evidence of PAGE2 being a receptor, enzyme, or other classic therapeutic target class; it is instead characterized as a cancer/testis antigen protein. Drug or mechanistic information is not available, reflecting the early stage of therapeutic exploration for this antigen.*

05

Safety considerations

Cancer/testis antigens are largely silent in most normal tissues except testis, but may raise concerns about off-tumor activity in immunotherapy settings
06

Biomarkers

Can serve as a biomarker for some cancers due to its cancer/testis antigen nature
