Target intelligence / Profile preview

Prostate stem cell antigen (PSCA)

Target
PSCA
Molecular classification
Glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchored cell surface glycoprotein
01

Overview

Prostate stem cell antigen (PSCA) is a GPI-anchored cell surface glycoprotein involved in intracellular signaling and potentially acetylcholine receptor regulation. It is overexpressed in several cancers, including prostate, bladder, pancreatic, and NSCLC, and is associated with more aggressive disease. Conversely, it is downregulated in esophageal/gastric cancers, suggesting a possible tumor-suppressive role in those contexts. Due to its restricted expression pattern and overexpression on tumor cells, PSCA is considered a potential target for immunotherapy.

02

Mechanism of action

Not applicable; PSCA itself is not a drug, but a target for therapeutic intervention such as immunotherapy or siRNA.
