Overview

The prostatic artery (PA) is the primary blood vessel supplying the prostate gland, originating most commonly from the internal pudendal artery. It also provides blood to the urethra, bladder, seminal vesicles, and rectum. Its clinical relevance lies in prostatic artery embolization (PAE), a procedure used to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and, potentially, to manage prostate cancer symptoms prior to radiation therapy by reducing gland size.
