Protease-Activated Receptor 4 (PAR4) is a G protein-coupled receptor activated by proteolytic cleavage, primarily by thrombin. It plays a significant role in platelet activation, hemostasis, inflammation, and cardiovascular physiology, particularly in platelet aggregation and procoagulant activity. It is also implicated in kidney injury and cardiac ischemia-reperfusion injury. Targeting PAR4 offers potential for antithrombotic benefits with reduced bleeding risk.
