Overview

The proteasome 26S non-ATPase subunit 2 pseudogene (PSMD2P1) is a genomic sequence that closely resembles the coding gene for proteasome 26S non-ATPase subunit 2 (PSMD2), a component of the 19S regulatory particle of the 26S proteasome complex involved in protein degradation. PSMD2P1 is considered a pseudogene and does not produce a functional protein. Pseudogenes may, in rare cases, play regulatory roles at the RNA level by acting as microRNA decoys or through other non-coding RNA functions, but there is no evidence that PSMD2P1 has such a function. This locus is not a relevant therapeutic target, nor is it implicated in drug mechanisms, clinical biomarkers, or current disease associations[2][7][5].

Biological functions

Other (no direct biological function as a protein; pseudogenes do not generally produce protein products, but some can have regulatory roles at the RNA level in certain contexts[2][5]).
03

Disease associations

Other (no direct disease role; some pseudogenes can influence disease via regulatory RNA functions[2], but there is no evidence for this pseudogene).
