Proteasome 26S subunit ATPase 4 (PSMC4) is a component of the 26S proteasome complex, an ATP-dependent protease responsible for degrading ubiquitinated proteins. It functions as one of six AAA+ ATPases within the regulatory particle of the proteasome, using ATP hydrolysis to unfold and translocate substrate proteins into the core particle for degradation. PSMC4 is involved in protein quality control, cell cycle regulation, and signal transduction. Dysregulation of PSMC4 has been implicated in cancer progression, making it a potential target for anti-cancer therapies.
