Overview

Proteasome activator subunit 2 pseudogene 3 (PSME2P3) is a processed pseudogene located in the human genome (Ensembl: ENSG00000248988) that arises from the gene encoding the proteasome activator subunit 2 (PSME2, PA28β)[1][8][10]. As a pseudogene, PSME2P3 contains sequence similarity to the functional PSME2 gene but lacks the capacity to encode a functional protein product. Such pseudogenes typically do not produce biologically active proteins and generally have no established role in health or disease; instead, they remain as non-functional genomic elements[1][5][8]. There is no evidence indicating that PSME2P3 has a role as a therapeutic target, biomarker, or effector in any known disease process.
