Proteasome activator subunit 2 pseudogene 5 (PSME2P5)

Target
PSME2P5
Molecular classification
Pseudogene
01

Overview

Proteasome activator subunit 2 pseudogene 5 (PSME2P5) is a noncoding DNA sequence that resembles the functional PSME2 gene, which encodes the beta subunit (PA28beta) of the 11S proteasome regulator. PSME2P5 has lost the ability to produce a functional protein, and is classified as a pseudogene. While some pseudogenes can regulate gene expression through RNA interactions, there is no evidence of such function for PSME2P5 specifically. It is not considered a therapeutic target.

Biological functions

Possible regulatory function through RNA interactions (general for pseudogenes, not specific for PSME2P5)
03

Disease associations

No direct roles established; pseudogenes may regulate parental genes in some disease contexts, but there is no evidence for PSME2P5 itself
