As a pseudogene, PSMA6P2 does not produce a functional proteasome subunit and therefore does not participate in cellular processes or provide a target for therapeutic drugs. Associations and disease relevance relate to the functional PSMA6 gene and protein, not the PSMA6P2 pseudogene[4][1][10]. In summary, PSMA6P2 is not a functional molecular target and is incorrect as a candidate for receptor or drug targeting purposes, due to its pseudogene status[4].
