Proteasome subunit alpha type 1 pseudogene

Molecular classification
Other (pseudogene, not a protein-coding gene)
01

Overview

ENSG00000236710 is a pseudogene related to proteasome subunit alpha type 1 (PSMA1). While PSMA1 encodes a key component of the proteasome complex involved in intracellular protein degradation and is important for many aspects of cell regulation and protein homeostasis[3], this pseudogene does not encode a functional protein and has no direct biological or therapeutic significance. It is included in reference databases for genomic annotation purposes but is not used as a receptor, enzyme, or functional biomolecule in drug discovery or clinical practice[4].
