Target intelligence / Profile preview

Proteasome subunit alpha type-7 (PSMA7)

Target
PSMA7
Molecular classification
Peptidase T1A family, Proteasome subunit
01

Overview

Proteasome subunit alpha type-7 (PSMA7) is a core component of the 20S proteasome complex, which is essential for the ATP/ubiquitin-dependent degradation of most intracellular proteins in eukaryotic cells. It plays a central role in protein quality control, antigen processing, and regulation of cellular pathways, including those involving HIF-1α and NOD1. PSMA7's role in tumor growth and its interactions with viral proteins suggest its involvement in disease mechanisms. Overexpression has been linked to colorectal cancer progression and liver metastasis.
