Overview

The proteasome subunit alpha type-7 pseudogene (ENSG00000227358) is a non-protein-coding locus on chromosome 9 that shares sequence similarity with the functional PSMA7 gene, which encodes an essential component of the 20S proteasome core complex. Unlike the functional PSMA7 gene, this pseudogene does not produce a protein and is not a direct target for therapeutic modulation[3][4][6]. While the actual PSMA7 protein participates in cellular protein degradation, immune response regulation, stress adaptation, and disease pathways, this pseudogene is largely considered non-functional and is not relevant as a therapeutic target.
