Target intelligence / Profile preview

26S Proteasome (β1-Subunit) (None)

Target
None
Molecular classification
Enzyme, Protease, Proteasome subunit
01

Overview

The 26S proteasome is a large, ATP-dependent multi-protein complex responsible for the regulated degradation of ubiquitinated proteins in eukaryotic cells. The β1-subunit, also known as PSMB1, possesses caspase-like peptidyl-glutamyl peptide-hydrolyzing activity within the 20S core particle. It is a key component of protein quality control and regulation of various cellular processes. Inhibition of the proteasome, including the β1 subunit, is a therapeutic strategy in diseases like multiple myeloma.
