Overview

Protective antigen (PA) is one of the three protein components that make up the anthrax toxin produced by *Bacillus anthracis*, alongside lethal factor (LF) and edema factor (EF). PA serves as the central cell-binding and translocation component, mediating the entry of LF and EF into host cells. It is also a primary antigen used in anthrax vaccines.
