Overview

Protein CDV3 homolog is a ubiquitously expressed, intracellular protein encoded by the CDV3 gene, also termed carnitine deficiency-associated gene expressed in ventricle 3. The protein has a predicted molecular weight of 27.3 kDa, consists of 258 amino acids, and is found in the cytosol and potentially associated with the plasma membrane. CDV3 is proposed to act as a biomarker for hepatocellular carcinoma and has been considered as a potential target for gene therapy in cancer contexts, although there is no direct evidence it functions as a classic receptor, enzyme, or signaling target. CDV3 interacts with nuclear and cytoplasmic proteins including MYC, EWSR1, and various RNA-binding proteins, possibly implicating it in transcriptional or post-transcriptional regulation. It is also a substrate for kinase-mediated phosphorylation. Disease associations include cancer, certain genetic metabolic conditions, and possible roles in viral biology, but there are no known drugs or direct therapeutics targeting this protein currently
