Protein disulfide isomerase family A member 3 pseudogene 1 (PDIA3P1), also known as GRP58P, is a non-coding pseudogene. Unlike the protein-coding gene PDIA3, which encodes the multifunctional protein disulfide isomerase ERp57/GRP58 (involved in endoplasmic reticulum quality control, chaperone activity, and immune regulation[3]), PDIA3P1 lacks protein-coding capability and does not produce a functional protein. Although it is catalogued in gene databases and sometimes listed in disease association screens, its biological impact (if any) occurs through non-coding RNA effects or sequence homology rather than direct molecular function. It is not considered a therapeutic target, receptor, enzyme, or transporter[4]. Any medically relevant activity is specific to the related protein-coding gene PDIA3, not PDIA3P1.
