Protein hinderin (gene symbol KIAA1328) is a human protein that competes with the structural maintenance of chromosomes protein SMC1 for binding to SMC3. This competition may regulate the availability of SMC3 for the assembly of multimeric protein complexes involved in chromosome maintenance and dynamics.
