Protein kinase C delta (PKCδ) is a member of the protein kinase C (PKC) family of serine/threonine kinases that regulates cell proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis. As a novel PKC isoform, PKCδ is activated by diacylglycerol (DAG) or phorbol esters in a calcium-independent manner. It is implicated in various cellular processes, including B cell signaling, DNA damage response, and platelet function. PKCδ is overexpressed in several cancers and can act as a negative regulator of cellular senescence in colorectal cancer. Targeted inhibition of PKCδ holds therapeutic potential in certain cancers.
