Target intelligence / Profile preview
Protein kinase C delta type (PKCδ) is a serine/threonine-specific protein kinase and a member of the novel PKC subfamily. It plays critical roles in regulating cell signaling pathways that control growth, differentiation, apoptosis, immune responses, and other cellular processes. Activation occurs via DAG or phorbol esters, tyrosine phosphorylation or caspase cleavage. PKCδ dysregulation has been linked with several diseases including cancer, cardiac remodeling, diabetes, and Alzheimer’s disease, making it an attractive therapeutic target.
