Target intelligence / Profile preview
Protein kinase C eta (PKCη) is a serine/threonine-specific kinase involved in diverse cellular signaling pathways. It is a member of the protein kinase C (PKC) family, and is unique due to its distinct regulatory mechanisms and tissue distribution. It plays a role in cell proliferation, differentiation, cell death, and keratinocyte biology, and has been implicated in chemoresistance in several cancers. Its role in cancer is complex, with overexpression promoting tumorigenesis in some cancers, while loss increases susceptibility in others.
