Target intelligence / Profile preview

Protein kinase CAMP-activated catalytic subunit beta divergent transcript (PRKACB-DT)

Target
PRKACB-DT
Molecular classification
Long non-coding RNA, Antisense transcript, Non-coding RNA
01

Overview

PRKACB-DT represents divergent, typically non-coding, transcripts from the PRKACB gene locus. These include tissue- and allele-specific long non-coding RNAs that appear to regulate the imprinting and expression of the protein-coding PRKACB gene, which is involved in cAMP-dependent protein kinase A signaling. While PRKACB is a well-characterized enzyme implicated in many pathological processes (notably cancer, heart defects, and neurodegeneration), PRKACB-DT has not been demonstrated as a direct therapeutic target and is best considered a regulatory RNA[1][4].

Mechanism of action

No drugs known; possible regulatory role as an antisense RNA modulating PRKACB expression

03

Biological functions

Potential regulation of PRKACB expression via genomic imprinting and allele-specific silencingMay influence tissue-specific transcription or epigenetic gene regulation
04

Disease associations

Not directly implicated; dysregulation of PRKACB sense/antisense balance may be relevant in developmental abnormalities and imprinting disorders
