Overview

PPP1R14BP2 (protein phosphatase 1 regulatory inhibitor subunit 14B pseudogene 2) is a human pseudogene. Pseudogenes are DNA sequences derived from functional genes but have lost their gene expression in the cell or their ability to code for protein. PPP1R14BP2 shares sequence similarity with the functional PPP1R14B gene, which codes for a regulatory protein involved in inhibiting the catalytic activity of protein phosphatase 1 (PP1), but PPP1R14BP2 itself is nonfunctional and does not produce a protein product. It is not involved in any documented cellular signaling, disease process, or therapeutic intervention[1][3].
