Overview

PPP1R14BP4 is a processed pseudogene of the protein phosphatase 1 regulatory inhibitor subunit 14B gene family[3][5][7]. As a pseudogene, it does not encode a functional protein and contains sequence similarity to the active PPP1R14B gene, which normally functions as an inhibitor of protein phosphatase 1, an enzyme involved in numerous cellular processes. Pseudogenes like PPP1R14BP4 generally arise through retrotransposition, lack coding potential due to disruptive mutations, and are typically transcriptionally silent. However, while some processed pseudogenes may be transcribed or have regulatory roles at the RNA level, there is no evidence that PPP1R14BP4 serves as a therapeutic target, nor is it known to interact with drugs or act as a biomarker[2][3][5][7][9].

02

Biological functions

May act as a non-coding RNA, potentially involved in regulation of its parental gene or related processes, but no strong evidence for active biological function in protein regulation exists for this specific pseudogene
03

Disease associations

None specifically reported for PPP1R14BP4. Some pseudogenes can regulate expression of parental genes and may, in rare cases, participate in gene expression regulation in cancer or other diseases, but there is no evidence directly implicating PPP1R14BP4
