Protein phosphatase 1 regulatory inhibitor subunit 1C (PPP1R1C) is a protein-coding gene encoding one of several regulatory proteins that bind to and inhibit the activity of serine/threonine protein phosphatase 1 (PP1), a major cellular enzyme involved in the control of phosphorylation states of proteins. PPP1R1C (also known as IPP5) acts as an inhibitory subunit of PP1 and is itself regulated by phosphorylation, affecting various cellular processes by modulating PP1 substrate specificity and activity. It has been associated with traits such as conduct disorder and may be involved in apoptosis signaling and possibly other disease mechanisms linked to PP1 dysfunction[2][4]. This information supports PPP1R1C as a canonical, specific protein target regulating phosphatase activity, but there are no documented drugs known to interact directly with this subunit, nor is there major evidence citing it as a direct clinical biomarker. There is no indication that the gene or its aliases are misspelled or incorrect[2][4].
