Unlike PPP1R12B, PPP1R12BP1 does not encode a functional protein and does not serve as a therapeutic target. Pseudogenes typically arise from gene duplication or retrotransposition events and may have roles in gene regulation but lack protein-coding capacity. Some related pseudogenes of PPP1R12B have been identified on the Y chromosome[1][3][5].
