Protein phosphatase 1 regulatory subunit 15A (PPP1R15A), also known as GADD34, is a regulator of protein phosphatase 1 (PP1) activity. It plays a crucial role in the integrated stress response by promoting the dephosphorylation of eIF2α, which restores translation after stress-induced inhibition. PPP1R15A is involved in autophagy, apoptosis, and cell cycle regulation, particularly in response to cellular stress conditions such as ER stress, DNA damage, and nutrient deprivation. Its dysregulation is implicated in cancer.
