Overview

Protein phosphatase 1 regulatory subunit 42 (PPP1R42) is a protein-coding gene that encodes a positive regulatory subunit of PP1 phosphatase complexes, predominantly expressed in the testis. PPP1R42 modulates PP1 activity and plays an important role in maintaining centrosome integrity during cell division, through interactions with gamma-tubulin and actin-dynein complexes. Although associated with the regulation of cell cycle events and reported linkage to subacute bacterial endocarditis, PPP1R42 is not currently considered a therapeutic target and has no known drug interactions[1][2][6].
