Protein phosphatase 1E (PP2C domain containing) (PPM1E)

Target
PPM1E
Molecular classification
Enzyme, Protein phosphatase, Serine/threonine-protein phosphatase

Overview

Protein phosphatase 1E (PP2C domain containing) is a nuclear serine/threonine-protein phosphatase that requires Mg2+ or Mn2+ for activity. It dephosphorylates and inactivates multiple substrates, including the multifunctional Ca2+/calmodulin-dependent protein kinases (such as CAMK4 and CAMK2), PAK, and AMPK, thereby regulating signal transduction events, actin cytoskeleton organization, and cell morphology. Its dysregulation is implicated in disorders such as Mulibrey nanism, osteoblastoma, and possibly cancers. It belongs to the PPM family of phosphatases and its main functional annotation is protein serine/threonine phosphatase activity[1][3][5][6].
