Overview

Protein phosphatase 2A 55 kDa regulatory subunit B delta isoform (PPP2R2D) is a regulatory subunit of the major serine/threonine phosphatase PP2A. PPP2R2D is part of the B (B55) family of regulatory subunits, which determine substrate specificity and cellular localization of the PP2A holoenzyme. PPP2R2D is expressed ubiquitously in mammalian cells and is involved in key cellular processes such as cell cycle regulation (notably controlling mitosis entry and exit), chromosome segregation, and regulation of apoptosis and signal transduction pathways, including mTOR. Dysregulation or overexpression of PPP2R2D has been implicated in several cancers, notably gastric cancer, where elevated levels may serve as a poor prognostic biomarker. PPP2R2D and its associated PP2A complexes have been noted as potential therapeutic targets, although their broad cellular roles may pose safety concerns regarding potential effects on normal cell proliferation and survival[1][2][3][4].
