Overview

Serine/threonine-protein phosphatase 2A catalytic subunit alpha isoform (PP2A-Cα) is the major catalytic component of the heterotrimeric protein phosphatase 2A (PP2A) enzyme complex, which mediates dephosphorylation of serine and threonine residues on diverse substrate proteins[4][2]. The PP2A complex is involved in numerous critical cellular processes including regulation of signal transduction, cell cycle, apoptosis, and cellular metabolism, frequently acting as a tumor suppressor[2][7]. Dysfunction, mutation, or altered expression of PP2A is implicated in cancer, neurodegeneration, and other diseases[1][2]. Multiple drugs inhibit or modulate PP2A activity, and the enzyme is a focus of interest for therapeutic targeting in cancer and possibly other diseases[7].
