Protein phosphatase 4 regulatory subunit 2 (PPP4R2) is a regulatory protein that forms part of the PP4 complex, a serine/threonine phosphatase. PPP4R2 modulates the activity and substrate specificity of the PP4 catalytic subunit (PPP4C), particularly in cellular pathways related to DNA damage response and repair, microtubule organization, and snRNP maturation. It is implicated in cancer pathogenesis—especially acute myeloid leukemia (AML), where PPP4R2 depletion is associated with impaired DNA repair, increased genomic instability, and poor prognosis. To date, PPP4R2 itself is not a direct therapeutic receptor, enzyme, transporter, or drug target, and there are no approved drugs targeting PPP4R2, nor established biomarkers or safety concerns for clinical interventions. The term “PPP4R2 pseudogene 5” (PPP4R2P5) does not appear in authoritative databases (NCBI, GeneCards, UniProt) for human genes/proteins and is likely an error, misnomer, or unvalidated entity. There is no evidence for any “receptor” related to PPP4R2 or PPP4R2P5. All biological knowledge refers to PPP4R2 as a regulatory subunit, not a pseudogene or receptor. If more information about a legitimate pseudogene or variant emerges, it must be clearly distinguished from PPP4R2. For now, “PPP4R2P5” should not be pursued as a target for structured or therapeutic analysis.
