Overview

Protein phosphatase inhibitor 1 (I-1) is a regulatory protein and a potent inhibitor of protein phosphatase 1 (PP1), a serine/threonine-specific phosphatase involved in various cellular processes. I-1 is activated by phosphorylation, primarily at Thr35 by PKA, which enables it to bind to PP1 and block its activity. It plays a critical role in regulating cardiac physiology and is implicated in heart failure pathogenesis.
