Overview

Protein phosphatase inhibitor 2 family member C (PPP1R2C) is an endogenous regulatory protein that inhibits the catalytic activity of protein phosphatase 1 (PP1), a major serine/threonine phosphatase involved in cell division, proliferation, and neuronal signaling. PPP1R2C is structurally and functionally similar to PPP1R2 (inhibitor-2), acting as part of a family of intrinsically disordered proteins that modulate PP1 function through direct binding and steric blocking of its active site. While its inhibition of PP1 is rapid and reversible, PPP1R2C is not implicated in direct disease causality or as a target for drugs. It is one of several regulatory subunits controlling PP1 activity, with broader biological implications for cell cycle regulation and neuronal processes.
