Overview

Protein phosphatase Slingshot homolog 1 (SSH1) is a human enzyme that belongs to the slingshot phosphatase family and plays a critical role in regulating actin filament dynamics by dephosphorylating and activating cofilin, an actin-binding and depolymerizing factor[1][2][3][4][6][7]. SSH1 thereby facilitates actin filament turnover, which is essential for cellular movement, shape, and signal transduction. Dysregulation of SSH1 or improper control of actin dynamics is associated with various pathological states, including cancer metastasis and genetic diseases involving abnormal cell motility[1][2][3].
