Protein precipitation at tissue surfaces is a biochemical process involving the aggregation and separation of proteins from solution when they come into contact with tissue surfaces. This process is driven by hydrophobic interactions, solvation layer disruption, and electrostatic forces, and is influenced by factors such as protein concentration, protein type, salt specificity, and environmental conditions (pH, temperature, and ionic strength). Common precipitation methods include salting out (e.g., using ammonium sulfate) and organic solvent precipitation (e.g., using TCA, acetone, or ethanol). It is used for protein purification, concentration, tissue processing, and protein extraction.
