The proteoglycan synthesis pathway refers to the series of cellular processes responsible for producing proteoglycans—macromolecules composed of a core protein covalently attached to one or more glycosaminoglycan (GAG) chains. Proteoglycans are essential components of the extracellular matrix, contributing to tissue structure, hydration, cell signaling, and molecular filtration.
