Proto-oncogene Mas (MAS receptor)

Target
MAS receptor
Molecular classification
G protein-coupled receptor
01

Overview

MAS1 proto-oncogene (Mas receptor) is a G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) that acts as a functional antagonist to the angiotensin II type 1 receptor (AGTR1). When activated by angiotensin-(1–7), it opposes many effects mediated by AGTR1, such as vasoconstriction and cell proliferation, leading to vasodilation, anti-inflammatory effects and other protective actions.

Mechanism of action

Agonist binding leads to vasodilation, anti-inflammatory effects, anti-fibrotic effects, and metabolic regulation through antagonism of AGTR1 signaling.
