Target intelligence / Profile preview
Proto-oncogene protein c-AKT, commonly referred to as AKT or Protein Kinase B (PKB), is a serine/threonine kinase that plays a central role in multiple cellular processes, including metabolism, cell proliferation, survival, growth, and angiogenesis. It is a key node in the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway and is highly conserved across higher eukaryotes. Dysregulation or hyperactivation of Akt signaling is implicated in various diseases, including cancer and diabetes.
