Overview

MET, also known as the Hepatocyte Growth Factor Receptor (HGFR), is a receptor tyrosine kinase that plays a crucial role in cell proliferation, survival, morphogenesis, and motility. Upon activation by its ligand, Hepatocyte Growth Factor (HGF), MET initiates downstream signaling pathways, including PI3K-Akt, MAPK/ERK, and PLCγ, which are critical for both normal development and cancer progression. Aberrant activation of MET, through mutation, amplification, or overexpression, is implicated in various cancers, making it an important therapeutic target in oncology.
