Overview
Lck (lymphocyte-specific protein tyrosine kinase) is a non-receptor tyrosine-protein kinase and a member of the Src family of protein tyrosine kinases. It is essential for T-cell development, selection, maturation in the thymus, and function of mature T-cells. It plays a central role in initiating signaling from the T-cell antigen receptor (TCR). Altered expression or activity of Lck has been implicated in various diseases including immunodeficiency, cancer and autoimmune/inflammatory conditions. It is being explored as a therapeutic target for both oncology and autoimmune/inflammatory conditions.
