Overview

Protocadherin beta-10 (PCDHB10) is a member of the protocadherin beta gene cluster located on human chromosome 5, encoding a neural cadherin-like cell adhesion protein that is an integral plasma membrane component[3][5][1]. This protein contains six extracellular cadherin domains and a unique cytoplasmic tail, contributing to homophilic (self-selective) interactions that guide the establishment and specificity of neural cell–cell connectivity[1][2][3][5]. Although the specific functions of PCDHB10 are not fully understood, it is believed to play a crucial role in neural development, circuit assembly, and synapse formation[1][2][7]. It is implicated in a variety of diseases, including multiple cancers (such as pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma and glioblastoma) and neurodevelopmental disorders like autism[1][5]. No drugs are currently known to specifically target PCDHB10, and its mechanisms of therapeutic modulation remain to be established.
