Protocadherin gamma-A2 is a calcium-dependent cell adhesion protein belonging to the protocadherin gamma gene cluster on chromosome 5. It is primarily involved in the establishment and maintenance of specific cell-cell connections in the brain, particularly important for neural development and synaptic specificity. It shares structural features with other cadherins, including multiple extracellular cadherin repeats and a single transmembrane domain. Mutations or dysregulation in this protein have been associated with certain neurodevelopmental disorders[1][3][5][6][10].
