Overview

Protocadherin gamma-A8 (PCDHGA8) is a member of the protocadherin gamma gene cluster, part of the cadherin superfamily. These proteins contain six extracellular cadherin domains and likely function as calcium-dependent cell-adhesion molecules, playing a critical role in the establishment and maintenance of specific neuronal connections in the brain. Alternative splicing may result in different isoforms. Mutations or disruptions in this gene have been associated with neurodevelopmental disorders, including poor growth, skeletal anomalies, and microcephaly[1][2][5][6][7].
