Overview

Protocadherin gamma-B2 (PCDHGB2) is a member of the protocadherin gamma gene cluster on chromosome 5, which contains genes likely involved in the formation and maintenance of specific neuronal cell-cell connections in the brain[1][5][8]. This protein is thought to act as a potential calcium-dependent cell-adhesion molecule, facilitating neural tissue architecture and synaptic specificity[2][5]. Its extracellular domain includes six cadherin ectodomains and a transmembrane region, while the constant cytoplasmic region is shared among the gamma cluster members[1][8]. PCDHGB2 is primarily expressed in the brain, where it plays a role in neuronal development, but currently has no established role as a therapeutic target or known drug interactions[1][8].
